New Year Tips. 2018
With a new year just around the corner, you don't want to start off doing the same old thing! That will be a sure fire way to quickly lose motivation and not get the results you crave in 2018... Try these quick and easy fitness tips from Optimum Nutrition ambassador Shaun Stafford.
1) If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you!
Chances are that you are going to the gym because you want to see a change. It may be you want to drop a bit of body fat, increase a bit of muscle, or maybe just get a bit fitter for the new year ahead!
Whatever your motivation is, you want to be pushing yourself with whatever you do.
Now this doesn't have to mean "killing" yourself every session, but it should mean seeing progression in your workout. It can mean running a little quicker week on week, or just lifting a few extra reps with each exercise. If you are pushing yourself and driving yourself forward, the results will take care of themselves!
2) Try something new!
New is fun right? New is exciting... so why not take up something fitness related that will bring you some enjoyment outside of seeing the scales go in the right direction! This can be trying a new class at the gym, following a weights program if this is new to you, or taking up an active hobby such as karate or trampolining!
There are plenty of fun ways to be active and move more in the new year, so be brave and bold and try something new.
3) Get some extra help...
There are plenty of products out there that are designed to make training easier! Whether it is a new pair of shoes for running or a new pair of leggings for your Zumba class, using some products to make training more sustainable is certainly worth doing!
This can also be true of some sports nutrition products such as BCAA drinks. These are designed to take during your workout and will not only keep you hydrated but will protect your muscles during exercise as well as boosting your immunity and reducing that post-workout soreness and fatigue. And, with some great flavours available, you are kick-starting your results and recovery before you have even finished training... check out the Gold Standard BCAA Train & Sustain for the one I would recommend.
4) Partner Up!
For a lot of people, going to the gym is quite intimidating. So why not go with a friend or family member for moral support?!? Not only will you be encouraging each other to go (and holding each other accountable to keep going), but you'll also be able to motivate and push each other during your sessions.
Research shows that people who do not train alone maintain their exercise habits for longer periods of time: longer means more sustainable and more sustainable means better results... and that is something we can all do with!!!
